Movie of the Day: Assault on Precinct 13

Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

John Carpenter rocks the synthesizers nice and smooth-like on this one.

Movie of the Day: Being John Malkovich

Being John Malkovich (1999)

Spike Jonze's first feature is still my favorite. This is one of my many DVD's that has gone missing after having all kinds of different roommates in various locations. Fortunately I recently picked it up on the dead format of HD DVD for dirt cheap (after I got an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player for cheaps too). It has yet to be released on Blu-ray.

Movie of the Day: Zardoz

Zardoz (1974)

This has some of the most batshit crazy stuff I've ever seen in a movie. It's awesome. Just look at Sean Connery's bondage/Vampirella/baby diaper  costume:

Movie of the Day: A Serious Man

A Serious Man (2009)

I think I might get more out of this if I was Jewish..? I liked it though.

Israeli LOST Promo

Movie of the Day: The Men Who Stare at Goats

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)

According to Rotten Tomatoes and Flixter only about 50% of movie goers like this movie. Sure, the last act of the movie is it's weakest, but the the rest of the film has some really funny stuff and I dug the story too (not to mention some great actors).

If you're a Star Wars nerd you should get a kick out of it!

Drinking Game idea: Take a shot every time someone says "Jedi." You might make it 'til the end of the movie.

Update: Out of the movies I've recently watched this is the third to come from 2009 and feature George Clooney. Hmm.
